Impact Assessments

Impact assessments are vital to securing financial, political and community support for projects.

Impacts include economic, environmental and social considerations.

Pracsys has developed an impact assessment system that addresses the requirements of financiers and government agencies across a range of industries and settings.

Oakajee Port & Rail Impact - Oakajee Port and Rail

Pracsys was commissioned to support OPR’s submission to the West Australian Government to be the preferred developer of the Oakajee deep water port and associated port and rail infrastructure.

Pracsys’ investigations considered the broader economic significance of the Oakajee development, namely direct export revenues and macroeconomic impacts, impacts on property valuations and the revenues to the state derived from land sales and leasing, land tax and stamp duties, revenues from payroll taxes and the likely direct and downstream employment and expenditure effects of the development.

The final report included the economic impact of an integrated industry expansion model of the areas around Oakajee and the linkages with port operations. This included an assessment on maximising the economic benefits that arise from high employment and self sufficiency in the region.

The Trade Coast is a branding concept that refers to the south-west industrial corridor and is comprised of the developed and undeveloped areas of; the Australian Marine Complex at Henderson, Hope Valley – Wattleup Industrial Area, the East Rockingham Industrial Area, the Kwinana Industrial Area and the planned Fremantle Outer Harbour Development.

Pracsys was commissioned to carry out an Economic Impact Study of the area which will be used to strengthen the positioning of the Trade Coast to prospective industries within WA, nationally and internationally.

Pracsys developed a methodology model for assessing the economic value and impacts of the area as well as the likely infrastructure impacts ie: demand for water, power, sewerage, link roads and traffic flow in the Trade Coast and surrounding areas.

Landcorp requested assistance from Pracsys to carry out a high level economic analysis and activation assessment of the future development of the Jurien Boat Harbour precinct.

Pracsys produced a high level analysis of the existing and projected population for Jurien which included residents, workers and visitors to the area. A comprehensive demand analysis was also developed which included an overview of expenditure patterns for potential residents, workers and visitors.

A study of the Jurien town site was carried out and a range of business types for the area were analysed and estimate pools of expenditure for potential business were documented. Landcorp will use the report to highlight key economic drivers within Jurien to appropriate bodies as well as indicating future economic development sites which would be of benefit to the Jurien precinct
